J Roberts Roofing can cater for all of your roofing requirements.

Whether  you require a damaged tile to be replaced or a complete new roof, every job undertaken is attended to with the same care and attention as if it were our own home.

We work in small teams ensuring our quality is kept to the standards expected at J Roberts Roofing.

We cover Bedfordshire, Buckinghamshire and Hertfordshire generally but will and have travelled further for certain projects.

Although we are predominantly pitched roof installers,  we also offer some flat roofing services.
We are approved installers of Flex-R EPDM rubber and can offer up to a 20 year guarantee for this product. This is a fantastic product if installed correctly and will leave your property leak free for many years to come.

We continue to carry out work for multiple local building companies, conservatory companies, bathroom installers, plumbers and electricians. Ranging from simple tile vent installations through to completed projects.
We always welcome introductions to new companies and individuals who can make use of our services, either regularly or just on a one off basis.

We provide detailed estimates to all of our clients, that shows exactly the work that has been quoted for enabling any queries or additional works required to be established prior to work commencing.
Once all works are completed, including waste disposal and the removal of scaffolding, contact will be made to ensure you are fully satisfied with the work completed.
Only then will a final invoice be issued.

Roof Tiling

Roof tiles come in a variety of different shapes, sizes,colours and textures. All roof tiles have limitations on their use and should only be installed to manufacturers guidelines. Here at J Roberts Roofing we can advise you accordingly on the best tile for your project, and give you alternative options if there are any. Once your product is selected we can then source your tiles, arrange delivery and have our team of competent roofers install them.

Natural slates have been used on domestic projects as far back as 1300AD, and are used widely in domestic and commercial settings to this day. A quality, expertly installed slate roof can last as long as a century - two to three times as long as many alternative roofing materials. J Roberts Roofing can advise you of the best product for your project, supply the product and expertly install the chosen product(s).

Your roof is the main contributor to weather proofing your home and should not be neglected. So if your roof has broken or missing tiles, damaged or missing lead flashings, damaged guttering or any other issues don't hesitate to contact us. Once contact is made, a site visit will be arranged where repairs can be assessed and any access issues noted. The cost for the repair plus any materials or access equipment required will then be sent to you via email for your approval. Once approved, all necessary arrangements will be made for you including scaffold and waste disposal if required. Your repair will then be completed to the highest of standards by a member of our team.

Leadwork

Lead is used to weatherproof joints and angle changes on your roof and has been widely used as a roofing material for centuries. It can be moulded to any shape and is highly resistant to corrosion. If installed correctly lead can last for up to 500 years and is 100% recyclable, making it the ideal choice of product for your roofing project. There are alternative products available with no reclaim value if the risk of theft is likely.

Turning up when they say they will, doing the job they quoted (for the money they quoted), professional, skilled at their job, polite, responsible and trust worthy. All things you want from a tradesman and everything that Jamie delivers on. Jamie fixed our chimneys which were not installed correctly by the developers and did a terrific job. The NHBC inspector was very impressed with his specifications for the job (they paid part of the bill). I have to say we were impressed by his (and his teams) attitude and workmanship, not to mention his patience and accommodation for delays due to NHBC. The real impressive thing for me though was that when there was damage post removing the scaffolding to a few tiles (only to be expected sadly, we were warned by many people because of the tiles we have) he came straight back and fixed it.  a year ago  Jamie and his team have done an outstanding job removing, lining, and replacing the slate roof on our house. The finish is impeccable and clearly the team have an eye for detail and a great enthusiasm for their work. Along the way there were some unexpected works, e.g. rotting valley board, rotting fascias etc. Jamie made me aware of this risk before hand and they addressed all of the issues quickly as they found them. They sorted all of the materials, scaffolding and waste removal and made good any inevitable damage caused by scaffolding. They turned up and left at consistent times, and were very tidy and safe in the way that they worked. This was a pretty big job, so I have no doubt in their ability to do smaller jobs too. It included lead work, replacing soil vent pipes, removing a chimney stack, repointing chimneys, and installing new gutters. Really could not have asked for more, and they exceeded my expectations.  Jamie and his team have carried out a number of jobs for us following a recommendation from one of our neighbours. One job was the renewal of a slated roof in a conservation area and another the replacement of a flat garage roof. Jamie also mended an upper storey gutter joint.  Had Jamie and his team out to replace our roof guttering that was never installed correctly at house build and from the first meeting and quote I was put at ease on how professional he would be. He listened to my concerns and ideas (limited access to the roof so scaffold required) and at no time tried to sell me any more than what I needed to solve my issue. His quote was very competitive and fair (I received some silly quotes) and his was in line with what I was roughly estimating. He worked around my hectic work pattern and the job including scaffolding was completed in a timely manner and all old guttering parts and rubbish was taken away. Could not recommend enough.

Just because your roof is leaking it does not always mean that you require a new roof.
Roof repairs are common, and generally sufficient enough to fix your issue. However this will not always be the case.

A site survey must be carried out to determine wether a new roof is required.
This answer depends on various factors, including, the size of your roof, the choice of product for your roof and which access equipment is required, also details such as roof lights and chimney's need to be factored in.
For this question to be answered fully, a site survey needs to be completed where all of the necessary factors are taken in to account.
No, scaffolding will not always be required.
Sometimes other access equipment may be more suitable.

We understand that scaffolding costs can be high and we aim to complete works in the most cost effective way possible.
Sometimes however the use of scaffolding can not be avoided. If this is the case, we only work with fully insured and licensed companies.

Any access equipment required can only be determined following a site survey.

The answer to this question depends on several factors again,
all of which can only be ascertained following a full site survey.

An estimated duration for the works will be indicated prior to any works being carried out.
Most roof coverings are expected to last between 20-25 years.
However a roofs life expectancy ultimately depends on the quality, durability and type of material chosen.
For example,  natural slates and clay tiles will have a longer life expectancy than a concrete tile.
Yes, any waste created during works can and will be removed from site if required.
If works are extensive, skip hire is normally the most practical solution.
If works are on a smaller scale, waste will be removed from site by ourselves and disposed of responsibly.

Moving out of your property whilst work is completed would only be required in certain circumstances, for example if your roof structure was in particularly bad condition and unsafe.
Roof work is dangerous, and should only be carried out by trained and competent individuals. Death or serious injury can occur if something goes wrong.
Also, the possibility of further damage to the roof should be taken in to account.
No, this is not advisable.
Not only will jet washing your roof shorten the lifespan of the roof covering, there is the risk of forcing high pressure water back in to your roof space, creating potential further issues.


Your first job should be to contact a reputable contractor who can advise you on the best course of action.
All roof work is dangerous and should not be attempted by untrained individuals.
Moss removal can be laborious and time consuming as well as dangerous. Moss and lichen can be effectively removed with the use of scrapers and brushes. Once the bulk is removed, a biocide treatment can be applied. This will actively continue to attack the moss and lichen spores, cleaning your roof further over the following weeks.
